Founded in 2002 and based in Glasgow's Mitchell Library, OurStory Scotland is a community and oral history project recording the stories of Scotland's LGBT communities from the 1920s to now.
Join them as they bring a day of events to Tramway.
OurStory Scotland: Mapping Glasgow's HIV & AIDS History

This open drop-in session on Tramway's cafe mezzanine invites contributions to the OurStory Scotland co-authored map and timeline of HIV and AIDS in Glasgow. Visitors can add their own memories, dates, and places to build a collective record, so that Glasgow's response to HIV and AIDS, from 1980 until the present day, does not go unrecorded.
Excerpts from OurStory Scotland's extensive oral history recordings that reflect on HIV/AIDS have been diligently compiled by OurStory Scotland volunteers and are available to book out from Tramway box office on dedicated headsets.

From Derrida to Polari! An Introduction to Oral History with OurStory Scotland

This workshop, led by OurStory Scotland chair Dom Miller-Graham, introduces the basics of LGBTQ+ oral history interviewing. It considers the power of the voice, and the ways in which naming ourselves can make a powerful record of our community. Record keeping and digital preservation will be introduced, alongside a guide to safe, ethical practices.
OurStory Scotland: Is Anyone Recording our Stories?

Dom Miller-Graham leads this OurStory Scotland presentation tracing more than two decades of collecting, archiving and presenting the lived experiences of Scotland's LGBTQ+ communities. It considers why the question "Is anyone recording our stories?" — upon which the organisation was founded — still matters today.
These events are part of a public programme curated by Steven Grainger to accompany the UK AIDS Memorial Quilt exhibition at Tramway.

Audiences may find the content deeply moving, emotional, or distressing, as it deals with themes of illness, bereavement, social stigma, and historical marginalisation.

Accessible toilets are available on all three levels of Tramway, and come equipped with handrails and emergency pull cords. Please contact Tramway prior to your visit if you have any additional requirements
Assistance dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome. We can provide a bowl of water for an assistance dog. The assistance dog toilet area is located to the rear of the building.
Assistance dogs are allowed in the auditorium.
Wheelchair access
There is level access to all Tramway spaces and the cafe, with lift access to the upper spaces.
There are designated spaces for wheelchair users in the theatre.

Full table service is not available. Food or drinks can be ordered at the counter and will be brought to the table.
No tables are permanently fixed. No chairs are permanently fixed.
Menus are hand held only, but are clearly presented in contrasting colours. Menus are not available in Braille.

At times, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
The public are only permitted to record and take photos where explicit permission has been granted in advance.
Free wifi
There is free Wi-Fi available at Tramway, which you can access by registering through Facebook or an online form. Once registered, you can access free Wi-Fi whenever you are at Tramway.
Please note, Tramway does not offer a cloakroom or bag storage service. During large-scale and busy events bag searches may be in operation and bags larger than A3 size will not be admitted to the venue.
