To mark the 100th anniversary of Whiteinch Library, this talk looks back to the community the library was built to serve in 1926 – and the lasting impact of the first world war.
The war had already delayed the opening of the library, but its effects reached far beyond the building itself. Using stories of local men, and families from Whiteinch, Yoker, Partick, Jordanhill, and Hyndland, the talk explores the human cost of the conflict and its impact on the communities around the library.
