This is The Kit perform music from their rapturously acclaimed fifth album, Off Off On. Though the songs were written before the pandemic, recent events lent uncanny pertinence to Kate Stables’s intricately crafted lyrics about shattered frequencies, interrupted lives, solitude and anxiety. “When I was mixing the album, it was right at the peak of the first wave of Covid and so I was hearing all my lyrics through this new filter and it was a pretty weird experience,” she has said. Clever instrumentals artfully enhance the mood of music that’s intense, but inspirational and life-enhancing.

Partly inspired by a line of Walt Whitman poetry (Lo! the unbounded sea … ), it’s been described as the Idlewild frontman’s “most creatively expansive record to date”. Poignantly reflecting the singular times we’ve been living through, these songs will touch listeners’ hearts.

“Like a recording of fading sun-dazzled days at the very edge of memory” (Herald
