Would you like to borrow museum objects to run a handling session in your local community?

**Our loan kit service is opening up again in February 2026**

We offer over 80 themed handling and reminiscence kits containing museum objects and photographs. These can be borrowed free of charge by community groups based in Glasgow. The kits work well in healthcare or community settings - they’re great for starting conversations, inspiring reminiscence and promoting wellbeing. They are also a great catalyst for storytelling, creative activities and language learning.

Our wide range of themed kits cover topics as such as childhood, sport and tenement life. Download a full list below.

It’s easy to get started once you've taken part in our friendly induction! We are also happy to come along and support the delivery of your first session.

Kits are picked up from Glasgow Museums Resource Centre (GMRC).

Opening hours are:

Tuesday and Wednesday 10am - 4pm

If you wish to book a kit or become a registered user, please contact: OpenMuseumEnquiries@glasgowlife.org.uk or telephone 0141 276 9300
