High Performance Hockey Coach

Harry joined the full time coaching team in January 2011. Harry has coached at Performance level within Scottish Hockey for over 20 years and has coached; Scotland U16 Men, Scotland U18 Men, Scotland U18 Women, Scotland U19 Men, Scotland Senior Women’s “B” Squad and Scotland Senior Men. During these duties Harry has been part of the Scottish Hockey coaching team at both the Women’s World Cup & the Men’s World Cup Qualifier, as well as countless European tournaments plus more exotic foreign competitions such as the Prime Ministers Gold Cup, held in Dakar, Bangladesh.

Harry was part of the Scottish Hockey coaching team when both our Senior Men’s and Women’s National teams achieved their highest rankings ever at World Cup events in 1996 with the women and 2001 with the men. He had a successful period as head coach of Western Men’s Hockey club, during which time Western won 5 Scottish league & 4 Scottish Cup titles plus 3 Gold medals at the European Club Championships “B” Division. Harry holds a GB level 4 Hockey Coaching qualification and is both a qualified Tutor and Assessor within Scottish and English Hockey Coach Education, as well as being a qualified umpire.

  • 2004 Completed “how to coach disabled people in sport” National course
  • 2006 Appointed tutor to deliver level 3 coaching courses
  • 2013 Selected to GB level 4 two tear course based at the University of Central Lancashire
  • 2014 Appointed as assessor to sign off Scottish and English hockey level 3 coaches
  • 2015 Graduated Post Graduate Diploma in Elite Coaching Practice (with Distinction)
  • 2015 Awarded GB level 4 coaching qualification.
  • 2016 Graduated, MSc degree in Performance Coaching (with Merit) University of Stirling
  • 2017 Appointed GB Coach Developer for Scotland, mentoring our National Youth Coaches
