Who can attend these events?

The events below are for individuals who are currently volunteering their time with Glasgow Life services and programmes.

How do I book my space?

To book any of our special social and celebration events, please contact our team via email volunteering@glasgowlife.org.uk or FREEPHONE 08085001315 and provide:

  • Your name
  • Name of your Glasgow Life volunteer programme
  • Preferred email address
  • If you have any dietary requirements e.g. preferred milk for tea and coffee

The volunteering team will confirm your booking and send you information including travel information. If we reach capacity for an event, volunteer names will be added to a waiting list. 

Upcoming events

Special Collections Tour

Join us to explore the treasures of the Mitchell Library, from beautifully illustrated medieval manuscripts, through to the first newspaper printed in Glasgow, we’ll share the books, manuscripts and photographs that make the Mitchell Library.  Light refreshments will also be available.  Limited spaces available, so make sure you book in advance. 

When: Wednesday 19 August 2026, 11:00 - 13:00.

Fairfield Heritage Museum Tour

Discover the story of Glasgow’s greatest shipyard.  Join us for a visit to Fairfield Heritage Museum based in the headquarters of the greatest shipbuilding enterprise in the world. We will get an introduction to the shipbuilding and engineering company which revolutionised sea transportation, building the largest and fastest vessels the world had ever seen before a chance to look round the museum ourselves. 

Light refreshments will be served at the end of the tour.

Clip 'n Climb at Kelvin Hall

Ready for a challenge? Join us for an exciting private Clip 'n Climb session at Kelvin Hall. Whether you're a regular climber or trying it for the first time, this is a great opportunity to have fun and connect with other volunteers. After the climbing session, we'll have some refreshments and the chance to catch up with other volunteers.

When: Tuesday, 22 September 2026: 16:00 –17:30

Hunterian Museum Tour

Join a fascinating visit to the Hunterian Museum, Scotland’s oldest public museum. This special guided tour will take you through some of the museum’s most remarkable collections, uncovering stories of science, history, art and culture from Glasgow and around the world. It’s a great opportunity to learn something new, spend time with other volunteers, and enjoy one of the city’s best-loved cultural attractions.

After the tour, there will be time to chat over light refreshments and explore the gallery at your own pace.
