Our people
Making a difference together
Our teams combined expertise, commitment and partnership working throughout 2025/26 to deliver lasting social impact for communities across the city.
Behind every Glasgow Life service, programme, venue and experience are passionate people working alongside local communities to improve lives and create lasting change.
The knowledge, compassion and commitment shown by our teams fuels our goal to make culture, sport, learning and active living more inclusive, relevant and impactful; opening up opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
However, our impact is rarely achieved alone. By working in partnership with local organisations, schools, charities, community groups and wider public services, our teams bring together expertise and shared ambition to respond to the needs of Glasgow’s communities.
The stories that follow demonstrate this collaborative approach in action. Together, they reflect the dedication of our people and the belief that meaningful change happens when communities are listened to, valued and involved in shaping the services and experiences that matter to them.
Supporting brighter futures
Working with local partners, our Youth Development Team is helping young people in Govan make positive health choices.
In 2025, the team helped establish the Govan Community Alcohol Partnership (CAP), bringing together Police Scotland, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, local schools and community organisations to reduce underage drinking through education, early intervention and positive engagement.
Together, the partnership has delivered interactive school events, targeted youth work, and community initiatives that encourage healthier choices while strengthening trust and relationships between young people and local services. A key milestone during the past year was a multi-partner event at Govan High School where 200 pupils explored topics including alcohol awareness, vaping, antisocial behaviour and future opportunities such as volunteering and careers.
The partnership’s early success was recognised nationally when Govan CAP was named Scotland’s Community Alcohol Partnership of the Year in March 2026. We spoke to our Communities Officer, Corrine, and wider partners about the programme’s ongoing efforts to create safer pathways for young people in Govan.
Glasgow Life has been a driving force behind efforts to reduce underage drinking in Govan. Their commitment has been instrumental to the partnership’s success; engaging young people in positive ways, building their confidence and resilience, and encouraging better decision making.
Creating museums for everyone
With a focus on collaboration and co-production, our Museums team is creating cultural spaces where more people feel represented, valued and welcome.
Through our Intercultural Youth Group, Museums colleagues are working alongside young people aged 18 to 26 from minority ethnic backgrounds, creating a platform where lived experience, creativity and collaboration help influence how museums engage with audiences across the city.
Meeting regularly throughout the year, group members explored the city’s collections and contributed to exhibitions, events and public programmes. Their ideas and perspectives are helping our Museums team to develop more inclusive practice and strengthen relationships with communities that haven't always felt represented in cultural spaces.
The group demonstrates the power of co-production, showing how listening to young people and valuing their voices creates more welcoming museums and delivers social impact for participants, colleagues and communities alike.
Working with our Intercultural Youth Group has been fantastic, both professionally and personally. Giving a voice to young people from marginalised backgrounds and seeing the positive response from our audiences has been incredibly rewarding. I'm excited to see what our collaboration brings next.
