The Intercultural Youth Group (ICY) is a creative community space for young people (aged 18-26) from minority ethnic groups in Glasgow. By engaging with Glasgow Museums’ spaces and collection, the ICY group aims to support young people in working to challenge feelings of not-belonging and to re-claim these spaces. We are creating opportunities for them to connect, learn and collaborate within our museums. The group meets on alternate Fridays in different Glasgow Museums venues.
You can join ICY any time by completing this online form
The GoMA Youth Group (GYG) is an initiative of young adults aged 16–26, created with the purpose of affecting change in the Gallery of Modern Art by influencing its exhibition and public programmes. Each year a new cohort of up to 15 Glasgow-based young people meet weekly at the museum over the course of the year, from around October to July. The group works with the learning and curatorial teams at GoMA to co-create their programme of activities and events, leading up to their own exhibition in the COMMONSpace.
Recruitment happens every year in September, applications will always be announced on GoMA's Facebook and Instagram channels @glasgowgoma and @young_glasgowmuseums on Instagram
The People’s Palace Youth Panel is a group of young people aged 18-26 based in Glasgow. They are currently working alongside staff from Glasgow Life Museums, to ensure the voices of young people are heard and represented in the redevelopment of the People’s Palace, Glasgow’s social history museum. The young people in the group are getting involved in different activities as the project progresses – including things like advising staff on how the People’s Palace can be more inclusive for young people, and working with curators to help create exhibition story displays.
