Free equality, diversity and wellbeing training Spring 2026

Check out the free online and in-person training and conversation events available over the coming months.

They cover a range of topics including mental health, neurodiversity, managing stress, personal safety and eating for energy.

Many sessions are available at a time to suit you through e-learning platforms, or recordings.

These equality, diversity and wellbeing sessions are designed to help you develop, grow and feel supported at work. 

 

Walk and Talk – SAMH, The Nook, 51 Wilson Street, Glasgow G1 1UZ

Every Thursday 12 to 1pm: 30 April, 7 May, 14 May, 21 May, 28 May

May is National Walking Month. Walking is a great way to get active, connect with others, and take notice of what's around you. Join SAMH from 12 noon to get moving for your mental health. Visit The Nook after for a cuppa and the opportunity to access wellbeing resources. The group starts inside the Nook. Meet the walk leaders at the kitchen table as you enter.

Managing Stress, Thursday 30 April, 10am to 10.45am

As part of Stress Awareness Month, take time to pause, reflect and explore practical tools to manage stress in the workplace.

Delivered in partnership with SAMH, this session covers early warning signs, common causes and triggers, and practical stress management techniques.

Personal Safety Workshop – Wise Women, The Nook, 51 Wilson Street, Glasgow G1 1UZ

Starting Friday 1 May, various dates, 11.30am to 1.30pm

This workshop runs as a series of weekly sessions. Each session must be booked separately.

Wise Women are delivering a FREE Personal Safety Workshop at The Nook, Glasgow. These sessions provide practical tools, discussion and techniques to support personal safety while building confidence and self esteem in a supportive environment.

The workshops are open to women of all ages, fitness levels and abilities and cover:

  • How to identify, avoid and escape potentially dangerous situations
  • Using simple techniques and shock tactics to improve personal safety
  • Discussions and practical exercises designed to boost confidence and self esteem.

Mentally Healthy Workplaces Line Manager Training, Tuesday 12 May, 9.30am to 4pm

Do you have the knowledge to implement preventative measures and support mental health and wellbeing? 

This interactive course is delivered by the GGNHS Health Improvement Team through Healthy Working Lives Programme and is designed to:

  • Identify factors that contribute to a mentally healthy workplace
  • Increase managers’ understanding of mental health in the workplace
  • Clarify responsibilities in relation to staff health and wellbeing.

Recruiting and interviewing people who stammer, Tuesday 12 May, 10am to 11am

If you’re involved in recruitment or interviewing, this session is for you. Many recruitment and interview processes unintentionally disadvantage people who stammer or have other speech difficulties, despite legal obligations under the Equality Act (and Disability Discrimination Act in Northern Ireland).

In this 60 minute practical workshop, you’ll learn about the common challenges these candidates face and how simple adjustments can help them better demonstrate their skills and experience. The session will share practical tips and resources to help you run fairer, more inclusive interviews and avoid missing out on great candidates.

ADHD Awareness, Wednesday 13 May, 9.30am to 12.30pm

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopment conditions in childhood, but many people aren’t diagnosed until adulthood. Individuals with ADHD may experience related difficulties, such as anxiety disorders, sleep problems, or challenges with emotional regulation which can affect daily life in significant ways – impacting relationships, education and work performance.

  • Understand what ADHD is
  • Recognise the symptoms
  • Explore best practice for supporting colleagues and service users
  • Learn practical strategies to help the personal development of people with ADHD, stigma and treatment options.

Eating for Energy webinar, Wednesday 13 May, 10am to 10.50am

This session will explore why energy dips happen and how simple nutrition habits can keep you feeling alert and energised. It will break down the basics in a practical, accessible way, from blood glucose balance to the right mix of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) that sustain performance, plus smart snacking strategies that actually make a difference.

You will leave this session with:

  • easy-to apply habits that support clearer thinking and steadier energy
  • practical guidance you can use straight away
  • a healthier, more sustainable approach to fuelling your day.

Panel Discussion: Reducing the mental health impact of relationship strain – PAM Wellness, access anytime

Discover why relationship stress – including divorce, family estrangement and parental stress – affects wellbeing so widely and still faces stigma. Apply PAM’s practical guidance to help you manage its impact. This session is helpful for all staff including managers and HR who are supporting colleagues.

See Me Scotland: Training for managers and staff, access anytime

Mental Health Awareness Week is 11 to 17 May and we are joining the national campaign to Take Action to support good mental health. 

Talking about mental health more openly and having confidence to support someone who discloses that they are not okay can make a huge difference to a person’s wellbeing. The ability of line managers and supervisors to respond effectively to the early disclosure of symptoms and concerns by staff under their care is a crucial part of the equation.
