Kelvingrove's Annual Art Competition for Young People

A collage of artworks created by young people including a colour drawing of a tiger, a pilot in a flying mask and a lobster

The Annual Art Competition for Young People took place on Thursday 18 September at Kelvingrove. This event has been a happening since 1904 and is one of the team's favourite nights of the year, with so much talent and creativity on show.

Judge Laura Wilson summed it up perfectly, saying: "We were looking for something that makes you stop, pause, and say wow" - and this year's entries certainly delivered. From joyful drawings by nursery-aged kids to highly skilled pieces by secondary pupils, the works were inspired by visits to Kelvingrove, the Burrell Collection, Riverside Museum, and GoMA.

The medal winners' exhibition is now on display in the North Gallery (ground floor) at Kelvingrove until 31 October, with an online gallery available until Spring 2026.
