Mental Health Awareness Week 2025: The power of community
This week (12-18 May) is Mental Health Awareness Week. We want to take a moment to reflect on this year's theme: community. We all play a part in creating a supportive environment for our wellbeing, the wellbeing of others, and the world we live in.
Why community matters
Community isn't just about where we live or work. It's about connection, belonging, and knowing someone has your back. In times of stress, isolation, or uncertainty, having a support network can make all the difference. That might be a colleague who checks in, a friend who listens, or a local group that offers a safe space to talk.
You're not alone: support is always available
If you or someone you know is struggling, trusted organisations across Scotland and the UK are ready to help. Confidentially and without judgment.

Even though the week is ending, the conversation doesn't have to. Here are a few ways you can continue to support your own mental health and that of others:
- Reach out: Check in with a colleague or friend — even a quick message can mean a lot.
- Share resources: Bookmark or pass the links above to someone who might need them.
- Take a break: Step outside, stretch, or take a mindful moment — small pauses can reset your day.
- Join a group: Whether it's a community club, hobby group, or support circle, connection helps.
