Myeloma Awareness Week - 15 to 22 June

The International Myeloma Society conference will take place in Glasgow later this year.

During Myeloma Awareness Week (15 to 22 June), Glasgow Convention Bureau are supporting Myeloma UK in their campaign to raise awareness of myeloma, educating the public on the symptoms which are often difficult to diagnose.

Know the myeloma warning signs.

Today, 17 people will be told they have myeloma, an incurable but treatable blood cancer.

In everyday life, we pay attention to warning signs, but when it comes to our own health, they're easy to ignore.

That's why Myeloma UK's "Know the warning signs" campaign puts symptoms front and centre. It features people living with myeloma, painted with yellow warning signs where symptoms can appear.

The most common signs of myeloma include:

  • Fatigue
  • Repeated infections
  • Bone pain
  • Easily broken bones

If something doesn't feel right, get it checked. We know it can be difficult to explain vague symptoms, and to feel heard. That's why Myeloma UK has created a Symptom Translator to help you have clearer conversations with your GP.

Know the warning signs and find out what's causing your symptoms.
