Our My Wellbeing site has been live for one year - meet the team behind it

Some members of the team behind the My Wellbeing website

In July 2024, we launched our My Wellbeing website. Our one-stop shop to support your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Since going live, the site has evolved into a space for you to explore helpful and supportive content. It can help boost your mental, physical, financial, and social wellbeing. Whether you’re looking for quick tips, professional support or ways to feel more connected, there’s something for everyone.

The My Wellbeing team brings together people from different areas of Glasgow Life. All with a shared goal to support your wellbeing in meaningful ways. To mark the anniversary, we asked some of them to share what wellbeing means to them and what sections of the site they like the most.

Meet the team

Alison Barr, Business Analyst

“I joined Glasgow Life in 2010, and I’ve always been a people-centred person. I feel most energised when working collaboratively, so joining the My Wellbeing team just made sense. To me, wellbeing is about having the tools, support and space you need to thrive and be your best self. Both at work and beyond. I love the Wellbeing Calendar. The changing monthly themes and fresh ideas really help keep me inspired.”

Amanda Brown, Employee Relations Specialist

“In my role, I support colleagues through some really challenging times. I wanted to be part of a team that develops strategies and resources to make a genuine difference. For me, wellbeing means balance – physical, mental, emotional and social. When one area is out of sync, it affects everything. I particularly like the Resilience section. It shows that resilience isn’t something you’re born with, it’s something we can all build.”

Ann-Marie Burns, Senior Policy & Research Officer

“I’ve always been passionate about health equity. I want to ensure that we tailor support to different people’s circumstances, rather than offering the same solution to everyone. That’s what My Wellbeing is all about. It empowers colleagues to access what they need, when they need it, in a way that suits them. The A–Z section is brilliant. People can find support without having to go through a manager, which helps build confidence too.”

Annmarie Galbraith, Libraries and Communities Coordinator (Health and Wellbeing)

“My background is in crisis intervention, cancer support and homelessness. I’ve always believed that we must care for both our staff and the public. To me, wellbeing means feeling healthy, happy, and valued. The Winter Wellbeing section really stands out. Winter can be isolating and tough for many. This section gives people practical ways to feel more supported at that time of year.”

Jennifer McVerry, Sport and Physical Activity Officer

“I’ve worked in sport and physical activity since 2012. During the pandemic, I saw just how important wellbeing is. It’s easy to let it slide when life gets busy. I’m keen to help people find easy, meaningful ways to feel good. I love the A–Z section. Whether you’re looking for policy info or personal support, it’s all there, right at your fingertips.”

Jennie Dodd, HR Business Partner – Sport

“I wanted to get involved in something that truly puts colleagues first. Not just in terms of their role, but their whole wellbeing. To me, it’s about feeling happy, content, and able to handle life’s curveballs. I’m especially drawn to the Environmental Wellbeing pages. I find nature and fresh air so calming, and it’s something we can all benefit from.”

Julie Taylor, Senior Programme Manager - Museums

“I signed up after a manager’s meeting where they asked us to volunteer for projects that resonated. Staff wellbeing stood out to me because I believe in the importance of a healthy work/life balance. That’s what I try to live by. My favourite part of the site? The Menopause section – it’s such an important topic, and I’m glad we’re giving it space.”

Leigh McMurdo, HR Officer

“I’ve seen the difference a wellbeing platform can make. In a past role, it changed how people felt about work and themselves. I want Glasgow Life colleagues to feel the same way. Wellbeing means that you feel supported, balanced, and valued – in life and at work. I’m a big fan of the Social Wellbeing section. It’s a side of wellbeing we don’t talk about enough, but it has such a big impact.”

Michelle McKinlay, Health & Fitness Coordinator

“I’ve been at Glasgow Life for 15 years, and my manager invited me to join the team.. To me, wellbeing is how you feel every day. Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and socially too. I really appreciate the variety of the site. There’s something there for everyone, and a lot of it applies in and out of work.”

Samantha Rodgers, Assistant Cluster Manager

“Wellbeing is more than just not being unwell. It’s about balance and feeling resilient, connected and supported. With over 21 years at Glasgow Life, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space for colleagues. I think the whole My Wellbeing platform is brilliant. It covers so many relevant topics. It really reflects the challenges people face in everyday life.”

Shirley MacPherson, Senior Employee Relations Manager

“I’ve always been passionate about wellbeing and wanted to play a role in making sure everyone has access to the right support. For me, wellbeing is about balance across all aspects of your life. Mental, physical, and emotional. It’s about building resilience and finding purpose. I think the Mental Health Support section is so important. It’s packed with practical tools and support, whether you’re struggling or just want to feel more in control.”
