This week, the First Minister of Scotland officially opened the Parkhead Hub. During this visit, he thanked colleagues and local people for their support.

The Parkhead Hub is a landmark health, social care, and community facility. It brings many services together in one bright and modern place. People can now see their GP, dentist, pharmacist, and other health teams in the same building. The Hub also has spaces for support services, community groups, and local projects.

Our new Parkhead Library is at the heart of the Hub. We have more space, more books, and better places to sit, read and learn. We also offer free Wi-Fi, computers, study areas, and meeting rooms. Our team has already welcomed many visitors, both new and returning.

Since the library moved into the Hub, more people are coming through our doors. Between February and September this year, library visits almost doubled. We have also seen more books borrowed, especially by young people.

The Hub also helps people look after their health. Because we are close to NHS teams, we can share helpful information and advice right when people need it. This allows us to support wellbeing across the whole community.

We are proud to be part of this exciting new place for Glasgow’s east end. Thank you to everyone who has helped us make Parkhead Library such a warm and welcoming space. We look forward to seeing even more members of our community in the months ahead.
