A message from our Chief Executive - Equal Pay Programme update
Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to confirm that the joint Job Evaluation Operational Steering Group has now completed the detailed review of Primary Benchmark roles. This marks a major step forward in our Equal Pay Programme.
This now allows us to move immediately to the Matching phase, where over 19,000 colleagues will be matched to the appropriate role. This process will ensure everyone in a Primary Benchmark Role is assigned to the correct job and provide each with a Job Overview Document (JOD), and that it accurately reflects what each employee does and provides them an opportunity to respond where they feel this isn't the case.
Managers' and Trade Union representatives will be briefed on the process to ensure support can be provided to employees with Matching queries. We will also use a variety of communications methods to ensure all are supported throughout this phase. The Equal Pay programme officers are currently working closely with TU Representatives on finalising communications and briefing arrangements.
This process has included the detailed consideration of more than 170 jobs covering more than 19,000 staff, who make up more than 75% of our workforce. This has involved a huge amount of work from colleagues in HR, including the Job Evaluation team, and the trade unions as well as representatives from all of our in scope services and ALEOs. I am very grateful to them for their hard work.
This step also allows us to progress discussions with Trade Union representatives to design our new pay and grading structure for all employees in scope for the programme.
Not all employees will be involved in Primary Benchmark matching, only those whose roles are included in the Primary Benchmark will be contacted directly. Go to staff updates for details of what are Primary Benchmark Roles. If you are in Secondary or Unique roles, then you won't receive an individual communication at this stage.
This work also allows us to move towards providing implementation timing which we are keen to finalise at the earliest opportunity.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support as we move forward with this important programme.
Susanne Millar
