Update from Glasgow City Council’s Chief Executive: Pay and Grading Structure approved
Dear colleagues,
I am writing to update you following today's meeting of the City Administration Committee, which considered the report on the proposed Pay and Grading Structure. The committee has now agreed to proceed with the proposals set out in the report. You can read the full report again here.
I recognise this is an important decision and changes relating to pay, allowances and terms and conditions are significant for all. Some may welcome the changes, while others will have concerns. Our focus now is on making sure everyone receives clear information about their individual circumstances and has access to the support they need to understand the changes.
As previously advised, you will receive an Employee Information Pack explaining what the new arrangements mean for your individual pay and allowances. These packs will begin to be issued from 31 August by mail to your home address.
If you are affected by a detriment, I have asked a manager from your service area to make every effort to speak to you about this before you receive your information pack. This will make sure that you fully understand what the changes mean to you. Your line manager will help you to understand any further points that need clarity.
The council remains committed to working constructively with the Trade Unions throughout the PGS implementation and ongoing Job Evaluation processes.
I appreciate that this remains a significant period of change and that some employees will feel uncertain. I want to reassure you that we are committed to communicating openly, providing appropriate support, and ensuring that you have access to the information you need.
This process is about creating an equitable and sustainable Pay and Grading Structure for the future, and we will continue to keep you informed as implementation progresses.
Thank you for your continued professionalism, patience and commitment to delivering services for the people of Glasgow.
Susanne Millar
