Animating Sauchiehall Street is a strand of our programme which aims to bring life and moments of collective joy to Sauchiehall Street.

Working closely with cultural organisations in the area, we hosted cultural events on Sauchiehall Street to engage audiences with the street's heritage in new ways. As well as events and exhibitions in our Project Space, in 2025, our programme included:

Strip the Willow - a public mass ceilidh on Sauchiehall Street celebrating the street's history of social dance and natural heritage.

Sauchiehall Street Music Day - working with Nice N Sleazy and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, we celebrated Glasgow’s diverse music scene and heritage, with a line-up of students, local bands, and residents across two stage.

The Popcorn Archives -  Glasgow Film Theatre led a participatory project by local artist Sean Wai Keung, who offered freshly popped popcorn in exchange for memories of GFT, Sauchiehall Street, and cinema in Glasgow.

Not To Be Sniffed At - Glasgow Building Preservation Trust invited audiences to follow their nose for an immersive exhibition exploring the smells of Sauchiehall Street in years gone by. The exhibition and events programme was in collaboration with perfumer Clara Weale. Events included interactive workshops, engaging talks, and guided "sniffaris".

The Neighbourhood Variety Show- Sauchiehall Street at the Garage Nightclub - The National Theatre of Scotland re-imagine the tradition of variety shows through inviting local people and performers to take to the stage in a celebration of one of Glasgow’s most famous promenades. The show featured performances from Overdrive Dance Company, The Mission Voices Choir, drag performers Mona Mae and Karyn Tyne, and ex variety show dancer Jess Fitzgerald.
