Locarno Ballroom call out

Get involved

Did you dance at The Locarno on Sauchiehall Street?
Did you jive, jig or jitterbug in Glasgow’s premier ballroom?
Did you kiss a stranger under the shimmer of a disco ball?Or did an older relative tell you tall tales of nights here, twisting through dancehalls of yesteryear?

We want to meet anyone with a connection to Glasgow’s Locarno Ballroom — dancers, prancers, romancers, downright chancers or those of new generations looking for answers of how our Grannys and Grandpas danced through the years on Sauchiehall Street.

In April, we will present an epic artwork that unfolds across Sauchiehall Street and we need you to make it happen.
24 Things to Tell You will happen continually for 24 hours, working with local people to install 24 different artworks on Sauchiehall Street — one every hour of the day, including all the way through the night. Throughout this day, a range of different opinions, memories or future visions of the street will be brought to life in public space.

We want to capture all sides of Glasgow’s enduring and complex relationship to Sauchiehall Street, and we want to hear your perspective.

As part of the event, we want to gather all those with a connection to The Locarno on Sauchiehall Street to celebrate a collective memory of dancing in the city.
