About the bands

Act Shy
A new group gathered by keyboardist and composer Paul Harrison to play music which is adventurous, melodic, beguiling and dangerous all at once. From atmospheric and searching to infectious, urban groove driven, the mood can change at the drop of a hat. Featuring leading talents from Scotland’s scene: saxophonists Adam Jackson and Michael Butcher, bassist Ewan Hastie and drummer Doug Hough.

Rachel Lightbody with Conor Smith
Born in Chicago and raised in Scotland, Rachel has forged a path for herself on the Scottish music scene. Influenced by a broad range of styles and sounds, she is much sought after as a musical collaborator, previously working with Mezcla, The Elusive Tree, and Alyn Cosker - to name a few.  Rachel has been nominated Best Vocalist four times at the Scottish Jazz Awards, and was featured vocalist in sold-out performances of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Court and Spark’, and Carole King’s ‘Tapestry’ at Celtic Connections.

Rachel Duns Quartet
As Scottish Jazz Awards' Rising Star of 2021, the prodigious talent of saxophonist Rachel Duns has not gone unnoticed. Her performance at the Bandstand follows a string of gigs across Scotland including a landmark slot supporting jazz legend Buster Williams at Saint Luke's, as part of Glasgow International Jazz Festival.
