Award-winning Québecois ensemble La Déferlance brings its exhilarating blend of traditional music and contemporary creativity to Glasgow. Featuring fiddle, accordion, piano, bass and foot percussion, the band combines driving dance tunes, intricate musicianship and infectious energy with influences drawn from Québec’s rich folk heritage, alongside jazz and classical traditions.
Expect soaring melodies, rhythmic step dance and vibrant ensemble playing that capture both the warmth of community gatherings and the excitement of modern folk performance. Touring their acclaimed album Âmes des bois, La Déferlance has earned a reputation for captivating audiences through dynamic live shows that honour tradition while embracing new ideas.
Opening the evening are acclaimed Scottish musicians Amy Henderson and Ewan MacPherson, setting the stage for a joyful transatlantic celebration of roots music.
