Glasgow’s inspirational, adult community orchestra, together with Musical Director and Conductor Louise Martin, present a programme of favourites, including a selection from works by Beethoven, Bernstein, Gershwin, Handel, Susato, and Sibelius.

Merchant Sinfonia will also be performing the world premier of an exciting new work, “Turbines”, composed especially for & with the orchestra by Anna Appleby, as the outcome of a successful Making Music “Adopt A Composer” Award.

The Merchant Sinfonia was originally founded in 2008, under the auspices of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra as part of its educational outreach programme, and since 2013 is an independent organisation (with support from Glasgow Life).
