Mezcla is a world jazz/fusion collective at the forefront of Glasgow’s vibrant improvised music scene.
Led by bass player David Bowden (BBC Young Scottish Jazz Musician of the Year 2017), Mezcla features some of Scotland’s brightest stars and is already attracting attention for its innovative blend of soulful jazz and energetic grooves. Skilfully fusing influences from West Africa to Latin America and beyond, Mezcla's music is distinguished by its uplifting melodies, shimmering textures, and visceral improvisation.
Mezcla recently launched their highly praised debut EP at the Glasgow Jazz Festival 2017, which has been featured on BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 3.
