Our Man in the Field brings songs of people, places and journeys to Celtic Connections, blending British folk storytelling with the widescreen sound of Americana, soul and roots music. Led by singer-songwriter Alex Ellis, the music moves from hushed, intimate moments through pedal steel, cello and close harmonies to sweeping, full-band crescendos. At its heart are songs about connection, belonging and the places we carry with us.

The show draws from the new album Silverado, recorded at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios with producer Guy Fletcher and featuring Ethan Johns, Robbie McIntosh, Sonny Landreth and P.P. Arnold. Conceived as a love letter to America from across the Atlantic, its songs feel particularly at home at Celtic Connections — music shaped by traditions travelling between countries, generations and communities.

Following appearances at Glastonbury, the Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park with Neil Young, Our Man in the Field arrive in Glasgow with a rich, dynamic band and a collection of songs made to be shared in a room together.
