During a break from recent globe-trotting with Robert Plant’s Sensational Space Shifters, English folk pin-up Seth Lakeman revealed the influence of this prog-rock immersion on 2018’s ninth album The Well Worn Path, produced by Ben Hillier (Elbow, Blur, Depeche Mode, Doves). Combining amped-up attack with throwback echoes of classic Fairport and Neil Young, it was greeted by the Daily Mirror as “a searing and righteous cracker”.

Drawing on both her tradition-steeped childhood and travels in France and Stateside, Irish singer-songwriter Síomha Brock distils a distinctive and seductive blend of jazz, soul and sean-nós flavours, allied with outstanding, manouche-accented guitar work.
