Sitting with the Stars

Once the city with more screens per head than any other city in the world, going to the pictures was a way of life for Glaswegians. Focusing on the cinemas of Sauchiehall Street the exhibition will cover the ephemera that made up everyday cinemagoing – from box office to projection booth. With extensive research and materials from local cinema historian, Bren MacNeil, and mechanical equipment from Projected Picture Trust (Scotland) the exhibition will feature newspaper listings, tickets, film stock, posters, projection equipment, pictures and more. All mixed with personal stories of celebrities gracing the street and the screens.
