Kelvingrove Bandstand Family Festival
Glasgow Life is delighted to throw open the doors of the beautiful Kelvingrove Bandstand and Amphitheatre for a fantastic three week FREE programme of children and family events.
The brilliant Girls Rock Glasgow project (www.girlsrockglasgow.com) empowers young girls aged 8-14 to ‘….make music, art, change, kinship and space for themselves’. We present the results of their week long summer school.
Then GCAN’s Bold Collective have curated a line-up of young performers, musicians and more to perform. Glasgow Connected Arts Network’s Bold Creative (www.glasgowconnectedartsnetwork.org) comprises young people between the ages of 16 and 25 who meet regularly to discuss, promote, organise and host local opportunities for young people in the city.
Finally, DLÙ (https://m.facebook.com/dluband) a young band formed at Glasgow’s Gaelic School, are a modern trad-fusion band and were finalists of the Celtic Connections Danny Kyle Open Stage this year. Their urban upbringings, diverse musical backgrounds and youthful energy set them apart from status-quo trad and folk acts. This group of friends take their name from the Gaidhlig word 'dlùth', meaning tight-knit and close.
