Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Taking place in the city this summer from 23 July – 2 August.

Whilst the delivery of the Games is being privately funded, Glasgow Life is proud to be staging top class international sport competition once again at three of its venues (Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow International Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and Tollcross International Swimming Centre), reaffirming Glasgow’s reputation as a world-leading events destination.

Glasgow Club Gorbals Tennis Hall is also being used for a short period, whilst the Scottish Events Campus (SEC) is also staging a number of sports.

What does this mean for me?

With less than four weeks to go until the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games get underway, excitement is building across the city.

While Scotstoun Sports Campus, the Glasgow International Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, and Tollcross International Swimming Centre temporarily close to support this event, we’re making it as easy as possible for you to keep active. All other venues across the city will remain open as usual, and the vast majority of fitness classes, lessons and sport sessions have been relocated, helping you continue with your activities wherever possible.

Our programme teams have been in touch directly with updated details, and our venue teams are available to help you find the most suitable alternatives so you can keep moving and stay active. You can also view the relocated fitness class timetable on our Glasgow Club website. Its also a great opportunity to try Glasgow Club+, our virtual club in the Glasgow Club app, where you’ll find a variety of classes and workouts led by our fitness class coaches, our gym team and the popular Les Mills team too!

See the individual venues pages below for details.

FAQs - Venue closure information

Three venues will host sports competitions:

  • Tollcross International Swimming Centre – Swimming & Para Swimming
  • Glasgow International Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome – Track Cycling, Para Track Cycling & Artistic Gymnastics
  • Scotstoun Sports Campus – Athletics & Para Athletics

In addition, the Tennis Hall at Glasgow Club Gorbals is being used for a short time.

While the three competition venues will be unavailable during the published closure dates, Glasgow Club membership continues to give you access to all other Glasgow Club venues across the city. Some venues may be slightly busier than usual, so it’s a good idea to make the most of your member benefit and book your activities up to 7 days in advance to secure your space.

You can also access fitness at home in our app, giving you plenty of ways to keep active. If you’d like help choosing an alternative, our venue team will be happy to help, or you can contact our Customer Experience team at glasgow.club@glasgowlife.org.uk
