Annual Report - Our Story 2014

Passion and commitment are words that are easily thrown around when we talk about our services, but what is it that drives us, not only as individuals but as organisations or even as a city?

Everyone I speak to understands the devastating impact that a diagnosis of cancer has, not only for the person with the cancer, but their family, friends and colleagues. Our personal experiences are intrinsic in how we respond to support others in a time of need. I believe that in some way there is an unspoken bond in that type of experience that drives us all.

Because of this understanding; whether we are volunteers, paid employees or partner organisations we understand implicitly that the right support and information at the right time and in the right place can make a huge difference to a person or a family. I am incredibly proud that this is exactly what Macmillan @ Glasgow Libraries offers to the people of Glasgow.

I hope that after reading the highlights for the programme during 2014 that you will agree that this service is making a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer in Glasgow.
