Lids Open Day & Night
This event started life in City Halls in 2013 and returns as part of this year's festival with an extended format and a rare chance to play grand pianos in two grand places.
Come along throughout the day to play in the Recital Room, City Halls, or just listen to all the players taking their turn on the beautiful Steinway Concert Grand Piano.
Enjoy videos of our previous events on the Glasgow Piano City Youtube Channel. LOD's are always free to attend, with players, friends, and family welcome. Registration is required to play at either venue – full information and details can be found here.
In the evening, we will move to a stage inside Merchant Square. Any players wanting to participate here will need to be much more confident about playing to an audience. Ugnius Pauliukonis will provide a fitting finale to the festival and a treat for our ears as he closes the evening and invites us to:
"Experience the art of solo piano, showcasing a diverse range of evocative soundscapes on a delightful summer's evening. From the soothing music of Ennio Morricone and Claude Debussy to the contemporary rhythms of George Gershwin, the performance promises a musical journey of poignant reflection and vibrant energy."
Registration for the event will open on July 1.
