Two Glasgow swimming pools to extend opening hours
Communities across the city are set to benefit from extended opening hours at two popular swimming pools.
Glasgow Club Castlemilk Pool and Drumchapel Pool will open on Sundays from 8 February, making it easier for families and young people to enjoy swimming at the weekend.
Glasgow Life, the charity that leads culture, events, and active living in the city, confirmed the extended hours have been made possible following funding from Glasgow City Council to specifically deliver weekend opening.
The investment has supported the recruitment of additional Glasgow Club pool team members, enabling each venue to timetable more hours with a focus on Sunday sessions, which is traditionally a busy time for families and young people.
From Sunday 8 February, the opening hours at Glasgow Club Castlemilk Pool will be:
• Monday and Tuesday, 3pm-9pm.
• Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 9am-3pm.
• Sunday, 9am-4pm NEW.
From Sunday 8 February, the opening hours at Glasgow Club Drumchapel Pool will be:
• Monday, Tuesday and Friday 10am – 4pm.
• Wednesday and Thursday, 3pm – 9pm.
• Sunday, 9am-4pm NEW.
Glasgow Club Drumchapel Pool, which features a 25 metre pool with separate teaching pool, reopened to the public in September 2025 after a programme of refurbishment and the removal of RAAC from a section of the changing village.
The refurbishment included the replacement of air handling units to improve air quality, enhancing the pool filtration system, and new tiling and glazing. The works have provided a more comfortable experience for pool users whilst improving energy efficiency.
Glasgow Club Castlemilk Pool features a 25 metre pool, teaching pool and 120 seat spectators’ gallery.
The move follows the extension of Saturday opening hours at Glasgow Club North Woodside, Pollok and Easterhouse in November and early December 2025. Combined, these changes significantly increase access to weekend swimming across Glasgow.
Alan Milner, Head of Sport at Glasgow Life, said: “These pools are important for many people in Castlemilk, Drumchapel and the surrounding areas. Families and young people have told us how much they value the opportunity to use our facilities at the weekend, and these new hours will help meet that demand. We are committed to investing in swimming provision across the city to serve local communities for many years to come.”
