Poverty awareness GOLD course now live

Poverty affects people in many ways. It can make school, work, housing, health and daily life harder. Some people feel embarrassed to talk about it.

Why this matters in Glasgow

We support people who face poverty through our services and programmes. Scotland has legal targets to cut child poverty by 2030.

Alongside these targets, Glasgow City Council’s Strategic Plan prioritises reducing poverty and inequality. We all play a part in achieving this.

What you will learn in the course.

Take our new poverty awareness course to build your skills. You will learn:

  • What poverty is
  • Who is affected
  • Why it matters to Glasgow Life
  • Information on poverty-sensitive practice
  • Where to find practical support

We created this course with our partners at Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership. Poverty impacts people’s health and wellbeing. Whether you interact with customers or not, it’s useful for all colleagues.
