Velocity, Go for Gold!

Go for Gold was an inclusive performance project delivered by artist Karen McGrady Parker as part of Glasgow Life and Clyde Gateway’s Velocity programme. Co-designed with young people from Glasgow’s East End and Rutherglen, the project supported Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018, placing their ideas and energy at the forefront of the project.
Go for Gold worked with participants of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. A professional creative team, including directors, composers, choreographers and designers, worked alongside over 60 performers, nurturing an atmosphere of ambition and unity. The result was a dynamic and colourful piece of outdoor theatre performed 39 times during Festival 2018 at Glasgow Green, part of Glasgow’s European Championships cultural programme.
A 35-minute film documenting the creative process and final performance was produced and screened at two local venues. Go for Gold showcased the power of the arts to connect people and inspire pride, purpose and excellence across generations.
