A Toast Fae the Lassies offers a fresh and moving perspective on Scotland’s national bard in the lead-up to Burns Night.
Set on 25 January 1797, shortly after Robert Burns’ death, this acclaimed musical play unfolds through the voices of the three women who knew him best: his mother, Agnes; his wife, Jean Armour; and his muse, Clarinda. Audiences can expect a compelling blend of drama, music and storytelling as long-held tensions surface, memories are shared, and the complex man behind the legend begins to emerge. Woven throughout the performance are some of Burns’ most beloved songs and poems, including My Love Is Like a Red, Red Rose, Ae Fond Kiss and Auld Lang Syne, brought vividly to life through Alyson Orr’s musical arrangements. Rich in emotion, humour and insight, this is a thoughtful and engaging theatrical experience that sheds new light on a familiar story.
