On this tour, we will explore some of Glasgow Museums’ unique and exuberant art from the Indian subcontinent. The art of India has a rich and complex history, spanning thousands of years.  It includes art created in the historical regions of modern-day India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Pakistan. It is characterised by a strong sense of design in both its modern and traditional forms, influenced over millennia by a complex mixture of religions, tribal and folk cultures. It also famously absorbs and reinterprets the art of its invaders, from Alexander the Great to Queen Victoria.
