Pianist Lauren Zhang was 16 years old when her “daring, gravity-defying” performance won BBC Young Musician in 2018. Here she makes her first BBC SSO appearance, in Rachmaninov’s epic Third Concerto: sometimes called the “Everest of piano concertos”. Alissa Firsova is the daughter of two major Russian composers, and Die Windsbraut (The Bride of the Wind) takes its inspiration from a painting by Oskar Kokoschka – a musical evocation of the sumptuous, doomed world of fin-de-siècle Vienna. And Prokofiev originally planned his Seventh and final Symphony as a sort of musical fairy-tale for children. But it casts a spell that goes infinitely darker and deeper.

The public are only permitted to record and take photos where explicit permission has been granted in advance.
Free wifi
There is free public Wifi access. To connect, visitors have to register with City Halls Public Wifi which should pop up on their browser. After that visitors will only need their password for future uses.
