Birds of Chicago brings together the fervent, rousing vocals and haunting, evocative songwriting of Allison Russell, formerly of Po’ Girl, and JT Nero, from JT and the Clouds, kindred spirits who consider their music as rock ‘n’ roll in the first instance but with a soul-nourishing strain that’s been described as secular gospel. “We wanna make people feel that everything isn’t broken,” says JT, “For a little while at least.”

Singer Jenny Sturgeon, fiddler-violist Lauren MacColl and guitarist Ewan MacPherson have established Salt House as a source of new songs imbued with age-old character as their three voices deliver wisdom and earthy power.
