Celebrate Chinese New Year – Glaswegian Style!

Bring your friends and family and join us for a vibrant outdoor celebration that blends the best of Scottish and Chinese heritage and traditions. Sauchiehall Street Culture & Heritage District invites you to experience an unforgettable afternoon of music, dance, and spectacle.

Activity

2.00 PM – Dragon Parade and performances start at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall steps.

2.10 PM - Follow the Chinese Dragon and performers as they wind their way up to Renfield Street, along Bath Street and back onto Sauchiehall Street via Holland Street at 2.30pm. You can either join us at the steps to take part in the procession or watch from the pavement on the route.

2.40 PM - When we reach the pedestrian section of Sauchiehall Street, there will be a short lion performance outside Edward House, 199 Sauchiehall Street.

3.00 PM – Ceilidh kicks off - join in a Strip the Willow ceilidh dance led by a 6-piece piping band from the National Piping Centre!

This event is programmed by Sauchiehall Street Culture & Heritage District, in partnership with Glasgow City Council, Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre, Hong Lok Lion and Dragon dance troupe, Glasgow Oriental Dancing Association, Wing Hong Chinese Elderly Centre, and the National Piping Centre.
