For over 50 years, the great bothy balladeer Jock Duncan’s other vocation was interviewing north-east Scotland’s Great War veterans, faithfully transcribing their Doric dialects on an old manual typewriter.

Published in 2019, the resulting book was edited by piper and professor Gary West.
