Join us on the 10th October at the Mitchell Library as we
celebrate some of Scotland's best writers and poets of colour and announce the
winner of the Kavya Prize 2024.
The Kavya Prize for Scottish Writers of Colour was founded
by Scottish Indian author Leela Soma in collaboration with Creative Writing at
the University of Glasgow. Now in it's third year, the Kavya Prize 2024
shortlist features: Tim Tim Cheng, Andrés N. Ordorica, Arun Sood, Amanda
Thomson and Lorraine Wilson.
This special prizegiving event hosted by Kavya Prize 2024 judge Amina Shah, National Librarian and Chief Executive of the National Library of Scotland, will include some words as well as readings from Amina and fellow judges academic Sourit Bhattacharya and author Iphgenia Baal. There will also be the opportunity to borrow the shortlisted titles:

- ANDRÉS N. ORDORICA - AT LEAST THIS I KNOW
- ARUN SOOD - NEW SKIN FOR THE OLD CEREMONY
- AMANDA THOMSON – BELONGING
- LORRAINE WILSON – THE LAST TO DROWN

This accessible toilet is approximately 26m (28yd 1ft) from the main entrance. This accessible toilet is located to the rear right as you enter.

Guide and assistance dogs are welcome and a bowl of water can be provided.

This venue does not play background music.

There is a wheelchair to borrow. To borrow the wheelchair, please contact a member of staff.

Parking
Please note that there is on-street surrounding The Mitchell Library, from 8am-6pm Monday to Friday this is metered. As this is also a local residential area, please use these spaces considerately. Alternatively, there is an a NCP Car Park on India Street next to Charing Cross Train Station which is a 2 minute walk away.
Photography and video recording
On occasion, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
