Visionary trumpet player Laura Jurd returns with an all-star band, presenting music from her newly released album, Rites & Revelations. Laura is joined by Irish fiddle player Ultan O'Brien and English accordionist Martin Green (one third of super-group Lau). Expect heavy modal grooves and folk-influenced melodies as this dynamic trio is propelled by the creative-powerhouse rhythm section of Ruth Goller (bass) and Corrie Dick (drums).
Rounding out the bill is the Chris Amer Sextet. One of the most interesting and original voices on the Scottish music scene, guitarist Chris has established a reputation for his distinctive, thoughtful sound and unique playing style. This show coincides with the release of Chris’s album, Making Peace With What Is. He’s accompanied by collaborators Matt Carmichael, Fergus McCreadie, Gus Stirrat, Mhairi Marwick and Stephen Henderson.
This is genre-defying, spirited, and accessibly brilliant music.
