Presented by The Big Music Society.
Extending their admirable track-record of innovative and exploratory bagpipe projects, Calum MacCrimmon and John Mulhearn’s Big Music Society present a programme spotlighting the connections between Gaelic song and the ancient piping tradition of Ceòl Mòr: Seinn Air a' Phìob translates as ‘singing the pipes’.
Its first half unites two generations of pure-drop Gaelic performers, represented by Lewis singer Margaret Stewart and Lochaber harpist Ingrid Henderson. Glenuig piping giant Allan MacDonald, also a leading scholar of Gaelic song, then heads an all-star cast featuring singer Màiri MacInnes, multi-instrumentalist Ewen Henderson, guitarist/drummer Steve Byrnes, double bassist Jenny Hill, the Big Music Society String Ensemble and a very special surprise guest.
