The Caterpillar Workers Legacy Group – remembering the occupation by Dr Ewan Gibbs (UWS)

The Scottish Labour History Group

Limited spaces please book at 0141 287 2999

In 1987 for 103 days, the workforce of Caterpillar’s tractor factory in Tannochside, Lanarkshire, occupied the factory preventing its closure and defying an American corporate giant. Labour historian Ewan Gibbs, along with the factory’s Joint Occupation Committee convener and deputy convener, John Brannan and John Gillen, reflect on the events using resources from the Caterpillar Workers Legacy Group archive.
