Under the baton of Chris Mitchell, the region’s finest young musicians present a programme that spans the globe—from the rhythmic heart of the Amazon to the soaring melodies of the Scottish Highlands.
Programme Highlights Include
- Dancing Fire (Kevin Day): A high-octane, jazz-infused opener that celebrates the joy of being alive.
- Into the Silent Land (Steve Danyew): A poignant and lush tribute that offers a moment of beautiful, orchestral reflection.
- Boomba (Michael Barry): A percussive tour-de-force that brings primitive, ritualistic energy to the concert hall.
- Three Scottish Dances (Alan Fernie): A charming and spirited nod to our national heritage, reimagined for the modern concert band.
- Libertadores (Oscar Navarro): An epic, cinematic finale that travels from the depths of the rainforest to a triumphant, heroic conclusion.
About the Ensemble
The WSSCB brings together the most talented woodwind, brass, and percussion students from across the West of Scotland. Known for their professional-level sound and infectious energy, this is a unique opportunity to support the next generation of Scottish musical talent.

Restoration fund
