It's always rewarding to be able to make a difference
Helen, volunteer

We understand that the life changing effects of cancer are not restricted to people living with cancer themselves, but can often create the need for additional support in the lives of friends, family and carers. To make sure no one in Glasgow faces cancer alone, Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Volunteers were introduced to Glasgow Libraries in 2012.

Macmillan @ Glasgow Libraries volunteers have donated over 40,000 hours of their time to support people affected by cancer. Volunteers provide emotional support and a listening ear, as well as signposting and referrals into relevant services such as benefits and welfare rights advice, counselling, bereavement support and more.

You can find out more about volunteering with Helen and Campbell who have shared their volunteering stories.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, recruitment for volunteers is currently on hold.
