What are English Pathways to Employment courses?

Want to work in health and social care or with children but not sure where to start? English Pathways to Employment courses can help you.

 

On an English Pathways to Employment course, you’ll learn about the different jobs in health and social care or working with children, improve your English and workplace skills, and get support to apply for jobs.

 

The courses are supportive and designed for people who speak English as an additional language.

 

During the eight-week course, you will:

  •          Visit a workplace to learn more about the job
  •          Get help with your CV, job applications, and interviews
  •          Improve your confidence in speaking to and working with others
  •           Gain a Qualifications Scotland Employability Award Level 3

Who can take part in a course?

You can apply to the course if you:

 

  •           Have intermediate English (SCQF Level 4 or above)
  •           Have the right to work in the UK
  •           Are available to attend the 8-week course
  •           Are interested in working in health and social care or with children

Each pathway course will focus on supporting you to apply for jobs in either health and social care or working with children.

Working in health and social care courses are linked to job applications for Home Carers or Social Care Assistants within HSCP.

 

Working with children courses are linked to job applications for early years practitioners, childminders, school-aged childcare practitioners or support for learning workers.

 

During the course, you will learn how to search, apply and interview for jobs by applying for a live job. You will also get a key worker who will support you during and after the course with your work goals.

Courses are held in community venues across the city such as libraries or community centres.
