Golf Course Consultation

In the summer of 2019 Glasgow Life launched a consultation about the future of the publicly owned golf courses it operates on behalf of Glasgow City Council. The consultation was open to anyone interested in golf, whether they play the game or not and whether they live in Glasgow or elsewhere.

The aim was to discover more about the public’s view of the service as it is currently being provided and to understand people’s hopes and aspirations for the future of golf in Glasgow.

Through this Glasgow Life hoped to learn more about why the number of people paying to play rounds at courses in Glasgow has been declining.

There was huge interest in the consultation with the original deadline extended in order to ensure as many people as possible could have their say.

The results of the consultation now have further significance within the context of the current wider Glasgow City Council challenges which requires the council to find savings of £50 million from its budget.

No doubt, therefore, the results will be taken into account by elected members of the council as they finalise budget proposals.
