Wee Write Family Day FAQs
Wee Write Family Day Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to book a ticket in advance?
Most events are ticketed and Family Day events can sell out very quickly so we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
We have paid ticketed events, free ticketed events and drop-in events.
We don’t hold back spaces for walk-ins, but if there are any events with spaces on the day we will update the information board at the Granville Street Information Desk.
Why do I need to book a ticket for free events?
The rooms in the Mitchell Library have capacities for safety and comfort. To ensure events are within capacity, we must use a ticketing system.
Our free events will have a waiting list when fully booked. Please cancel any tickets you will not use so that others can benefit.
Why is there a charge for some events?
We have tried to keep ticket prices as low as possible and held them at the 2024 price.
Without paid ticketing we would not be able to bring authors from across Scotland and the rest of the UK to deliver inspiring literary-based fun for children.
How do I get there?
The Mitchell Library is centrally located just West of the City Centre. It is easily accessible by train (Charing Cross, Anderston) or by bus (First Bus #3 stops right outside). There is some limited on street parking nearby but there is no visitor car park.
Can I buy books?
We have partnered with Waterstones who will have a pop-up shop on the ground floor. They will take cash or card.
Can I borrow books?
We will have lending copies available of all of our authors and illustrators. Just bring your library card!
The Mitchell Library is part of our wider Glasgow Libraries network and if you have joined in one of our Community Libraries, you use the same card to borrow books here.
Can I buy food and drink?
Yes! We have a café located on the ground floor.
Can I bring my own food and drink?
You can consume your own food and drink in selected areas outside of the café area.
We have a free water dispenser to the right side of the café counter.
What facilities do you have for babies?
We have baby changing and baby feeding facilities.
All Glasgow Life venues are part of the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme. Babies can be fed anywhere in our libraries, but we will also have a family friendly comfort area you can use.
Can I park my buggy?
The buggy park will be signposted on the ground floor.
I want to check event suitability for my child
All our events have the minimum age listed. All events are suitable for children. Age ranges are based on the type of session and/or the publisher’s recommended reading age for the book.
