Let your creativity run wild with children’s author Patrice Lawrence. After an insightful discussion on her motivations and inspirations to becoming a writer, join Patrice in creating a recipe for fantasy beasts inspired by her action-packed best seller, The Elemental Detectives.
The Elemental Detectives is an epic, edge-of-your-seat adventure series. Marisee and Robert are out to solve magical mysteries while taking on ghosts, monsters, dragons…and all of the other creatures found on the streets of this fantastical eighteenth century London.
Patrice Lawrence was born in Brighton and brought up in an Italian Trinidadian household in Sussex. Her first novel Orangeboy was one of the most talked-about YA books of 2016 and won the Waterstones Children's Book Prize for Older Fiction and the Bookseller YA Book Prize that year. Ever since, her work has consistently featured on prestigious prize lists. Patrice has been awarded the MBE for services to literature in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Parking
Please note that there is on-street parking surrounding The Mitchell Library. This is metered from 8am-6pm. Monday to Friday. As this is a local residential area, please use these spaces considerately. Alternatively, there is a NCP Car Park on India Street next to Charing Cross Train Station which is a 2 minute walk away.
Photography and video recording
On occasion, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
