Every month, we invite community members and a guest to explore an aspect of Sauchiehall Street’s heritage over a warm bowl of soup.

Did you know we breathe the same nitrogen molecules as the dinosaurs? Or that the scientist who first identified acid rain in the 1850s was born in Pollokshaws? Learn how the deadly smog of 1958 cut visibility to just a metre and cost the city an estimated £1 million a day.

Join us at Edward House for a truly ‘atmospheric’ exhibition charting the environmental history of the city, exploring the impact of industrial and domestic air pollution and examining what lies ahead for Glasgow’s air quality. Learn about the historic impact of acid rain on buildings, and how air quality has changed over the years, but the demands around clean air remain.

Try out some environmental science experiments, tell us your memories of Glasgow’s smoggy days and share your hopes for a fresh future.
