Join us for the culmination of our creative writing day with a panel of experts in the publishing field who will be on hand to answer questions such as; How do I submit my writing to publishers?; Do I need to secure an agent?; Should I consider self publishing?; How much money should I expect in advance and in royalties?; What about digital, audio and international rights?

Our panel of experts consists of:

Caro Clarke is a literary agent with over twelve years' experience in publishing – at Transworld (PRH) and at Canongate Books as a Senior Rights Manager. They were named Rights Professional of the Year at the British Book Awards in 2021. In 2019, they co-founded the Nan Shepherd Prize for underrepresented nature writers, which kickstarted a passion to demystify the publishing industry and help emerging writers to develop their craft and build their writing careers.

Simon McLean is a retired murder squad detective, under cover operative and private investigator. His memoir The Ten Percent is a Ringwood best seller, and he is now CEO of the Glasgow publishers. He is an avid fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis charities and a very active coach of Walking Football with Glasgow Life and Pollok United.

Vikki Reilly has over 20 years of experience in the book industry, first as a bookseller, then in the sales and marketing departments of Scottish independent publishers Mainstream Publishing, Mercat Press and Birlinn Ltd, where she was also on the editorial board. She currently works in Publishing Scotland, Scottish publishing's trade and network body, and is responsible for developing and overseeing trade relationships for our member publishers, as well as offering training and guidance on best sales and marketing practice. In 2020, she published her first book, Beatles 101: A Pocket Guide in 101 Moments, Songs, People and Places.

Chaired by Andrew Meehan.
